TThe Wisconsin Junior Hereford Association is proud to recognize Alison George and Madison Kegley for their outstanding achievement in being selected to attend the National Junior Hereford Association BOLD Leadership Conference.
The BOLD Leadership Conference—short for Building On Leadership Development—is a premier program designed for a select group of Hereford juniors from across the United States. The conference focuses on cultivating leadership skills, encouraging personal growth, and exposing participants to a wide range of
opportunities within the beef industry. Through hands-on workshops, interactive sessions, and meaningful networking, attendees gain valuable tools to become effective leaders both within and beyond agriculture.
This year’s conference was held March 26–29 at GKB’s Hi Point Ranch in Desdemona, Texas. Throughout the event, participants engaged with industry professionals, developed communication and teamwork skills, and built connections with fellow Hereford juniors from across the country.
Alison and Madison’s participation was supported by $450 travel scholarships, made possible through a grant from the Hereford Youth Foundation of America. These scholarships help ensure that deserving junior members can take advantage of leadership development opportunities like BOLD, further strengthening the future of the Hereford breed.
The Wisconsin Junior Hereford Association commends Alison George and Madison Kegley for their dedication to personal growth and their commitment to the Hereford industry. Their willingness to step forward as leaders reflects positively on Wisconsin Hereford youth, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make in the years ahead.

The Wisconsin Hereford Association is proud to announce that Madison, Wisconsin, will host the 2026 Junior National Hereford Expo, taking place July 4–10, 2026. This premier national event will welcome junior Hereford exhibitors, families, and breeders from across the United States for a week of competition, education, and fellowship—all while celebrating the future of the Hereford breed right here in Wisconsin.
Hosting Junior Nationals is a true team effort, and volunteers will be essential to making this event a success. Help will be needed during move-in on July 4 as well as throughout the show days. Whether you can give a few hours or a full day, your support will make a meaningful difference.
Volunteering is also a great opportunity to:

The Jackpot Hereford Steer Class was August 7, 2025 at the Wisconsin State Fair. The Jackpot Class is a great way for WHA member breeders to support Wisconsin Junior Hereford Association members showing Wisconsin Herefords at the State Fair! The Class is sponsored by the WHA, and is for Hereford steers born in Wisconsin that were bred by WHA or WJHA member breeders.
Thank you to all of the exhibitors and breeders for their participation in the class. Many thanks to WHA member and Jackpot Steer Coordinator Kermit Rhiner for coordinating the 2025 Jackpot Hereford Steer class! Funding for the monetary awards in the class is supported by the Youth Outreach Programs Benefit Auction at the WHA Spring Sale Breeders & Friends banquet, as well as the class nomination and entry fees. Thanks to everyone that supported the auction in March 2025, and for the WHA and WJHA members that nominated and entered steers in the class. The Jackpot Hereford Steer Show is a great way to encourage youth participation in the cattle industry, support WJHA members showing Wisconsin Herefords, and showcase your farm's genetic program!

Wisconsin had 130 head of cattle and 61 exhibitors at the “Mad Dash to the Hereford Bash” Junior National Hereford Expo, Madison, Wisconsin, July 8 – July 14.
The Wisconsin juniors hosted/sponsored three very successful programs to welcome other juniors to our state;
Goose Chase Scavenger Hunt – 32 teams of 10 juniors each spent the first three days of JNHE completing challenges, hunting for items like a cheese head and searching out other juniors that fit a set profile. Awards were given to the top three teams. We heard many great comments back about how much fun this activity was!
Taste of Wisconsin Fun Night – Wisconsin helped host the meal for all 1500 attendees of the Mad Dash to the Hereford Bash. This special meal wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of the Donation Heifer program! Thank you to all who support our juniors.
Queen’s Tea stuffed animals – The WJHA sponsored the stuffed animals Queen Madison Katzenberger gave to each participant in the Queen’s Tea. Every young lady took home a special friend as a reminder of their time at the event.
