Junior National Hereford Expo
The Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) is the highlight of most Hereford youths' summer activities. It is held each July, and is co-sponsored by the AHA and affiliated junior and state Hereford associations.
Known to many as the ultimate family vacation, the JNHE provides an opportunity for competition of both junior members and their cattle projects. A hands-on type of program for youth provides educational, leadership and motivational forums. During the event youth can participate in 22-skill based contests.
The 2015 show will be held June 26-July 3 in Grand Island, Neb. — Learn More
The 2016 show is scheduled for July 9-15 in Madison, Wis. — Learn More.
2015 PRIDE Convention & Scholarship
The WJHA has a $300 scholarship for a member to attend PRIDE. More information about PRIDE below.
Sholarship deadline is June 1, 2015.
While the Junior National Hereford Expo promotes learning aspects of showing cattle and educational activities associated with relative contests, the NJHA's annual PRIDE (Program for Reaching Individuals Determined to Excel) Convention focuses on leadership development. Junior members, parents and advisors from all parts of the country participate in the event each year. During the three-day event, close to 100 participants listen to nationally known speakers and participate in junior board workshops, which assist in the enhancement of the individual's leadership talents, communication skills and beef-industry knowledge.
Typically PRIDE is held at land grant universities, however in 2008 the event traveled to Washington D.C., and participants got to experience our Nation’s capital. In the past few years we have been to Idaho, Michigan State University, South Dakota and Arkansas.
The NJHA is excited to have the American Junior Maine-Anjou Association joining us in Colorado for our 2015 leadership event. This conference is offered to junior members ages 14-21. Intermediate and senior members will benefit the most from this leadership conference, if younger members wish to attend, we ask that a parent or guardian accompany them on the trip.
2015 Faces of Leadership PRIDE Convention
July 25-28: Estes Park, Colo.
The Wisconsin Junior Hereford Association sponsors one $300 scholarship to attend PRIDE convention each year. Please see the Pride Scholarship Application for details. Due June 1, 2015.

Junior Semen & Quilt Auction Results
The junior semen auction netted $14,525 towards 2016 JNHE expenses. This included the sale of the quilt which earned $1,750. A big thank you goes out to Holly Paulson for making the quilt, Steve Folkman, who purchased the quilt, gave the proceeds back to the juniors and then to C&B Farms, the Graber Family in Mineral Point who made the final purchase on the quilt. Also thanks to the Rhiner family and Michael Boettcher for their donations towards the auction. Also a tremendous thank you for the overwhelming response we had to both the donors and purchasers of semen.
